I think u will need broadband service there.

It works excellent, just like in US. But you need at least 128kbps line from NTC. On dialup, it does not work. It's been a long time since I last bought phone card to call Nepal and also my parents can call me anytime here on my US cell phone. And it is completely FREE. Go for it !!!

Thanks all my sajha friends for sharing informations regarding magicjack.

1. You have to buy MagicJack online. www.magicjack.com. One time $20 for device. $20 for each year thereafter.
2. Once you receive it, you register it and assign a US phone number with the area code of your choice.
3. Send the device (small USB device) to Nepal.
4. Have your families/friends connect the device on their computer with high speed internet. Connect the other end of the device to the regular phone.
5. Have them call you OR you call the number.

Bottomline, wherever you take this MagicJack device, you can make or receive free calls. Voice quality is excellent.
