I am houston right now. My I-20 from the comm college is expiring this may. I have already been accepted to different school for fall semester. But the problem is my grades will be below 2.0 for this spring semester. i am afraid my sevis wont be released if it will be below 2.00. I could have talked to adviser in my school but they are so rude that i dont want to see them with this problem. I am in good standing rite now but will be in scholastic probation after this semester for getting probably F on 2 subjects i have missed exams of.

I wonder if they will extend my I-20. are there anybody who have/had faced similar problem. i am really worried. please help.

I am in same situation as well but the international advisor is not like that he is cool in these matters. I suggest you to talk and be nice with him. Just talk to him in a nice way.

It wud be better if U rather consult wid the international Student advison

there are international advisors to help good students. His advisor was rude to him coz he was an ass hole. Shame on him. and you too for supporting him. Nobody support or help bad people.

Who decides who is bad? He has done some mistake but thats not the point. He wants to rectify the situation. But surely he is asking on the wrong place. Probably student advisor, international student char... someone on that line. I guess.

Study well man.... or else you will be in deep shit.

i did not go thru that situation so i do not know exactly how it goes. But here is what i would do if i was in your situation.

i would go and talk to the advisor(DSO in international office), tell him why your grades suffered (if there were any valid reasons, financial hardship in family, some other kind of problems...just don't tell him that you were at work when you needed to take the exams or u were partying hardcore and had a bad hangover to go take the test, which i hope is not the case). reasons such as problem in personal life, family issues, financial issues are pretty good reasons, i think.

now, ur I-20 is expiring in May and you are accepted at another college for fall...but have you received another i-20 from the school you are starting in may?

if not, go talk to the advisor in the old school, tell him your situation and apply for i-20 extension. once you get the new i-20, then you can take the transfer and get a new i-20 from new school.

if yes, then you already have an i-20 with valid issued date. but in this case, talk to dso in new school and find out if everything is okay.

i might be sounding very very defensive, but trust me, you do not want to mess with your status...once you are out, you might be out for ever...unless you marry citizen...or you know some other tricks that i don't...

its better to be safe than be sorry....go talk to the advisor.

if you don't want to help, you can simply stay away...you do not need to tell the world that you are smart enough to maintain more than 2.0 gpa...i really hope and pray that you won't have to go thru the situation this guy is going thru...and by the way, who cares even if you a 4.0? do we care about you? no. why? coz u are such a person...

its very easy to critize others. for once, think of you in the same situation and think how desperate you would be seeking help from people...and how frustrated you would be when people add insult to your injury.

bajeko_sekuwa, if are going to say "one stupid helping another one" to me, you should not...gpa alone does not seperate smart from idiots...coz i see you are a bit XXXXX too...does that mean your gpa is low too? by the way, if you want to know my gpa, let me know...
