Parliament asked for resignation of CIAA cheif Surya Nath Upadhya, but why?

Was these the crimes he did..

- Arrested Chiranjibi Wagle, Gupta and Khume for corruption
- Arrested 21 criminal and corrupt government official of Finance ministry
- Arrested many more corrupt persons

Remember
- Surya Nath was not appointed by king but by democratic government before Oct 2002
- The law used by CIAA to arrest all corrupt criminals were passed through parliament before its dissolution
- CIAA never bowed in front of palace, thats why palace formed special illegal commission to take its political revenge action.

If this government takes action against CIAA, it will be a sad action, and will only be strengthen our fear that leaders have not realized their mistake. They are paving their way for corruption again. By taking action against who fought for corruption, this government will prove that it will support and further strenghthen corruption

Lastly, I have no personal relation wiht Surya Nath or any one in CIAA but I strongly support what he and CIAA did for fight for corruption.

Overall, Surya Nath did a superb job, but there are some cases such as providing fraud Nationality certificates, etc. filed against him in supreme court. Even though he goes out, let's hope that these corrupt leaders will not be pardoned by the upcoming chair of the commission.

Surya Nath was a chorr bahun. It's not a question of bowing or not bowing infront of the King. It's a question of paisa ! how come khum bdr was only charged for few crores and the rest too .... You think they had just a few crores 2 or 3? That is why the King had Royal Commission. Well how come Surya Nath never caught Girija or the daughter - Sujata??

If that "fraud citizenship" case is true, take legal action against him.

But CIAA or Surya Nath can not be branded for supporting King's regression. Because they never did that. As far as CIAA actions during the period is concerned, they used the law pased by parliament and they took action against all those corrupt officials and ministers to protect democratic norms and values.

The reason king formed RCCC was because CIAA did not agree to take politically motivated action

I think over here what leaders are trying to mis-use the people's force to score some of their political revenge and to pave their way towards free corruption.

Leaders if you have true faith towards democracy, do not try to take this un-democratic move

CIAA should be praised for their unbiased fight against corruption, they did not bow in front of palace, they did not bow in-front of corrupt politician. Any action against CIAA and its employee will send message to the general public that still corruption rules

Finally this undemocratic action will mean- "Nepalese you got sucked by palace for years,... now be ready to get sucked by political parties"

We have DEMOCRACY right? Ain't that mean the Netas can do whatever....let them sack anti-corruption agengy, Hell, why even have a CIAA....afterall, Netas would love not to have CIAA....so, let them do as they please....

To all Netas:
" The National economy is your own. Please spend and corrupt as you please. If anything remains, please act like you wanna buy a new Jet for RNAC, or you wanna reform/bring New Drinking Water System a la Melemchi. People will be happy just with the news, and you can deposit millions in your bank account as a commission for commencing such a major developmental project. Jai Netas"

I had called Nepal this morning. My uncle was saying that Sujata Jost Koirala and Govida Raj Joshi are working hard to remove Surya Nath Upadhya and bring some NC supporter in his place.

Lets hope for corruption free Nepal!

BBC nepali news broadcast, they put the motion on parliament floor demanding resignation of Chief Justice, CIAA chief and Election comission chief. Else threatened to impeach them.

I do not have any comments about CJ or Election comission chief. But I think action CIAA chief is more politically motivated, to protect corrupt leader.

He was neither king appointee nor his actions were to support king's regression.

Any action against present CIAA or CIAA chief means action against those who fought for corruption free democracy.

If this Giddhe budo and his chamcha succeed in doing this then I would say "bye-bye to democractic nepal for poor people"... democracy will be only for corrupt leaders and their family and followers and their corrupt government employee chamchas.....

Prajatantra,

They might have some enough evidences to take actions against CIAA and EC chiefs, which we may not know. so, it is better to wait and see. But, these two animals are really helpless I guess. Unfortunately, there are so many other chiefs e.g Army and Police, who are not kicked out yet.

Ok, for a minute let us believe they have evidence against CIAA but that evident can not be bigger than Army's and Police's support for autocratic regression.

But by pointing the investigation and action first toward the CIAA chief, leaders have made it clear that they want to get rid of threat from CIAA.

They will bring in some corrupt chamcha as chief that will open door for corruption again.

Then as usual some "chappal chap" leaders and government beurocrats will build multi-million rupee house will grown their economy... why poor nepalese and nepal's economy will take a plunge once again...

I agree with "prajatantra" jee. Mr. Upadhya has done some real good work. Though I am not saying he is the perfect.

It will be sad to see if Mr. Upadhay is removed just to save Govinda Raj Joshi, Khum Bahadur, Wagle et al. We should give some credit to Mr. Upaday for initiating cases agains these corrupt leaders.... Wagle was fined some thing 3 Kror....Joshi, Khadka, Gachhedar, Gupta Wagle spend 4-6 months behind the bar.....

Mr. Upadhya certainly did some good work. If any better person comes that fine. But if some Koirala protege' comes just to protect these "Chor" then it will another sad moment.

"Wait and see" strategy seems good enough in words...But the PM is eyeing to sack the CIAA director even before any actions agaisnt IGP of Police, and others who ordered shootings on the protestors is a strange news in itself.....Bottomline is, Girija and his Chamchas wanna get rid their names off the Corruption black-list...even though every one in Nepal knows what they did...yet...everyone is silent......Long live our Corrupt Democracy !!!

Political neoptism was one of the bug that sucked dry the democratic gains of 1990, unchecked it will just be "repetation of history".

KaleKrishna Ji,

I totally agree with you, we should not let the history repeat and same mistakes be comitted again.

We should stop corrupt criminals for raising their heads again. I voiced this concern on day one when Girija a person with corruption charge and NC party with most corrupt leaders was given central role to lead the government.

And this government is showing the signs that proves fear we had about corruption raising its head again was true.

So what's gonna happen with Lauda Kanda?

I think now SPA will clean up all those corruption evidence from their raj. This is a good opportunity for these opportunist politicians.
