Hello people of Sajha,

I am trying to renew my hand written passport through the Nepalese embassy in washington DC. I am aware of the A4 size requirement for the forms but I have a few questions.

1. It seems that there is a colored logo on the top left of the form that says" Government of Nepal, " etc. When we print the form, does it have to be printed in color? or is a Black and White copy enough?

2. About the photo requirements, it says in the embassy's website that the dimensions have to be either 35mm * 45mm, or 2in * 2in. But they clearly dont equal eachother. Do I have to worry about cutting anything ?or Can I just take a picture at a walmart or walgreens for a US passport and just send it to them?

3. In the Embassy's website, it says that a separate money order of $150 has to be sent in their name. Does this mean that one needs to mail the money order separately in a new mail with tracking number etc? Or can I just send it with the rest of the documents in the same package?

I would really appreciate if you folks could answer my questions or share your thoughts or experiences regarding this process.

Thank you very much,
KB

1) Black & White will works fine.
2) Just take 2 X 2 rest they will take care of it ( US Passport size Photo is fine)
3) Send money order with the applications

Hope this will help....

I tried to do the same , I looked around all the place and tried to print the form in A4 size paper, Lucky for me I could print the form in A4 size paper( Compared the paper by my self), I sent it to the embassy , after the week and a half I got the package back from the Embassy saying the form was not in A4. I called the embassy( after several calls they finally picked up the phone) I told them the problem, they said the form was not in A4, I argued with them for some time, but after sometime I gave up and just asked them to sent the form to my address and I sent the return addressed envelop to them, got forms in 1 weeks time, sent everything back and now the passport is in process to Nepal.

I am not telling you you can't print in A4 by yourself, just sharing your experience.

Thank you very much for your input guys. I ordered the A4 size paper from amazon and measured it with a scale(ruler) and the paper was 29.7 cm x 21.1 cm . I had to print the forms several times to get it to print the right dimensions. After several experiments I was able to print the required size:
Printed area: 27cm x 18.5cm (Length and Breadth)

I also had trouble with the finger prints. They don't want the finger prints to touch the rectangular border. I had to print the form so many times to get the finger prints between those tiny boxes.

I hope they wont reject my application. I may keep updating this post so that others may find it useful.

Dear Friends,

I went in person to Consulate General of Nepal at New York to apply for my MRP passport in March 13, 2015 and they aksed me to contact on June 12, 2015 to check on the status of the application. I don't live in NY. I have to travel from MA to collect the passport. I have been trying to call the office at (212)-370-3988/89 to check on the status. It rings several times and after you get a message saying your call cannot be accepted at this time. Does anybody in shajha facing the same problem as I am? How do I check on my MRP application status? Is there any number or link to check. Please suggest, your help is appreciated. Thanks!

@jerilee
Check at

http://dopmofa.gov.np/mrp-status/missionwise.php#dispatched

Go thru pages on dispatched section to find New York look into that and see if u r on the list. If u r on the list on a given dispatched day, call or come to pick ur passport after more than 1 month frm that dispatch date.

@ny2
Thank you so much for your valuable information. I have been trying to call the office at (212)-370-3988/89 but no answer. I don't reside in NYC. Can my friend from NYC collect my passport on my behalf provided I gave her the soft copy (scanned picture ) of my receipt ? I appreciate your reply in this matter.
Thank you,

Hello guys. Just wanted to to make sure that photocopies of all pages are not required fur Passport. Also to get some idea on how to get an envelope with tracking and return address. I am assuming USPS would have that service.
Thanks for input.
