Hi, just wondering if you guys know a way to do h1 transfer. I just got selected in lottery but my dhoti employer did not even give me the receipt number. I dont think I am getting a job from here and wanted to either go back to school or transfer to another nice company where I can at least work outside like gas station. Give me some suggestions guys as I want out from this desi consultancy.

b'more, I am in a kind of same situation as you except I have an approval in my hand and H1b was not done by Indian's consultancy. I don't have a job right now, and I am having a hard time trying to find a job that would transfer the H1b. I am not even sure if it is doable. I don't know what to do now. MN_Nepali, do you have any idea about that?

MN_nepali... can you shows us the way... I am also have same problem with Desi company H1-B.... and would like to transfer ... but need to find a right way...

Hi Frens I am in trouble now. Please help me.

I have filed my H1 from Dhoti Company and got selected. It is starting from Oct 1. There is no job market so I don’t think I can get job from this company. Now me and my girl fren decided to get married before my H1 start. There are lots of questions, hope my fren from sajha will provide me answer.

ruste and raju lama, i think it is not big issue.  since your spouse is in F1 status, the best help for you guys is to go to your spouse's international student service with your spouses and request for status change.  I am sure they will provide you information on how to do it.  good luck.  I believe change of status takes about 90-120 days, however, after getting your receipt you should be fine regarding your status.

-->You can change your status from H1 TO F2 ......it takes about 3 months and you need to contact your international office ..........but you are not dependent of your girlfriend...........you need to be spouse .....that is you need to be married (and NOT BOY FRNS/GIRL FRNS)

-->Contact your International Office ..........they will take care of eveything.........it is I-139

-->Yes.........soft copy should be fine .........as far as you have your case number..............but some Int Office might ask Original.................if so go to your current employer and tell them that you want to change your status from H1B to F2................they might ask some trainning fee etc

don't change the H1-B to F2. its gonna be hard next year.

even if u don't find the job, u can ask ur dhoti employer to provide W2 form. u might need to pay tax by yourself but it might help.

 if your employer let u switch the company that might help to find the another job

 

my H1b is approved i am still in search for a BA/QA job. No hopes so far. Damn I can't fake 6 years of exp. Really I don't want to do the job, doing much research i know that its hard to find another project if you even finish one. My current boss told me that he will file my Green Card, if I promise to stay with him after my GC is approved. I thought its a gud idea. eventhough i get a BA/QA job i dunno how much i would earn or save. this guy will only pay me minimum but i have gauranteed job and will get an idea to start my own in future.  So what do u guys think?

shud i accept the offer for GC. Or wait for higher pay IT job. damn i am confused.

if i file GC what is the procedure and what i need. any expert idea will help, pliz.

 

Go for GC dude. I'm in a similar situation too. haven't even been to a single project for BA for the last 5 months. And the economy/job market thing is just the beginning. The worst is yet to come. It won't be until 2010 when things will start picking up. If I were you, I would go for GC!

some of my friends were in the  same situation, the best thing is to go for GC. once you get your gc, your hand will be on the top. some of my friends who went through the process are better off then who did not do it. so dont make the mistake.
