electricity, in other words current = flow of electrons
if you can make electrons flow on a strict path, yes it's possible. i'm not a physicist but i guess you can arrange several magnetic fields to deflect the electrons in the direction you want and make them travel without using a wire. will this work? maybe within a room or a house but will you be able to light up a village/town hundreds of miles far from the source? probably not.

Induction in a way is wireless electricity, you know transformer and all. Only. Applies to AC though. But do you really want wireless HV electricity? Imagine getting zapped by 10A out of nowhere.

@quarterback Well, I guess we all at times have wished that we didn't have to get to home and charge that phone, or wished we didn't need extra multiplug. But, that actually is a good question and Jantare's Ted talk post is quite enLightening. If this can be harnessed easily, it would be useful. However, since we wont be getting a portable generator soon ( that doesn't run in fossil fuel like diesel), we will still need the high voltage line to deliver the basic power. Only the wire from the outlet to device is removed in the case of the WiTricity
