Ive been reading his articles, listening  interviews in Nepali media for last few years (esp in Himal Media publications). I was little curious to know abt his background, googled and asked few friends and they also asked the same question 'Yes Who is C K Lal?'

We all know he is a political analyst who writes in English and Nepali perfectly with his own logic, then speaks in Hindi (I heard him in BBC Hindi service).

I wd be glad to know more about him. If u know something, please do share.

.By Profession, he is an engineer. He was pursuing Masters Degree in Pulchowk Campus when I first met him. He used to work in Sadak Bibhag by that time. I don't know if he still works in there. Besides that, everybody knows about his writing skill and his speeches. :-)

He has bachelor in civil engg and did master in urban planning fro pulchowk campus during 2001/2002. he was leader of master student.  he was i guess engineer is irrigation dept. He is one of those who takes money from indian embassy, raw and always presents his arguments favoring india and criticizing monarch  or nepalese establishment ( not this monarch,  when birendra was king). He does not have good literal english, nor he can speak good (fluent) english. most of the people wonder how he able to write in english..well he try to take some cliche' and verbose words into his writing to show as if he is good writer as a matter of fact when you met him you will realize....

he however, seems to have read lot of literature relating politics and history,  and try to interpret that in his own words..some time i like his argument sometime not...but back in 2001/2002 no one knew who he was...

i remeber how he gave controversial speech to starnews during the time of roylal massacre...while ram chandra paudel, kunda dixit and bijay kumar pandey did reflected high class of journalism this neo-writer was quite happy speaking hindi and giving remarks again king birendra and monarch, what was at that time one of the most respected instituion...anyway, my point is he is india's puppet!

Yes he was old at that time. Some govt employeecome to do master's so that to earn the chance of promotion ... he also would have followed same track..do not know if he had succeded in getting promotion..

Did CK Lal do M.Sc Urban planning in 2001/2002 ? I was there in Pulchowk during 1999/2000. I remember his batch received farewell in my presence. He was chosen to speak in the farewell program representing the graduated students. His 2 years M.Sc. course was extended over 3 or 4 years, so, I assume he was in the campuse since 1997 or late 1996.

 

By the way, it is impossible to judge on him based on reviews his articles receive because, the reviews are biased too. In my opinion, he is well-read scholar, a good friend of all (I mean he has good quality to be friend with people around him) and amazes peers with his witty remarks. He is a failed engineer in Nepali context, because he was unable to earn as much as his other SadakBhibhag engineers did (don't get it as if he is completely clean). I was surprised to learn he earned more money by doing consulting jobs in NGOs/INGOs etc. than from his engineering career.

 

At times, he has clearly displayed his inclination toward Congress Party, particularly to Girija faction. I do not believe he receives money from indian embassy or raw or whatever the other sources people like to mention while blaming him and portraying him as anti-nepalese. It is very easy to make such blames, because people just know to say that you get money from King if you say a few words for King. These days nepalese have learnt blaming that way to defame others whom they can't beat by making logical arguments. I know CK lal is the one among very few die-hard patriots from Madhesh.

Hey Amazing bro i think CK Lal is from sirhaha district of Nepal. I used to be a great fan of him while in Nepal.

I like the way his analysis to any given topic. I rememeber once he said and i was quite impressed by his thought.

I agree with Kanchu. Let me add more. CK Lal writes most of his columns for Himal Media which is owned by the Dixits brothers, Kanak Mani and Kunda Mani. These two are notoriously oppportunists especially the former. These two are also supposed be RAW's right-hand men in Nepal. Whereas CK Lal is concerned he is famous for spitting venom at all the other political leaders with the exception of Girija and his dynasty. He would pay his obiesence (spelling?) to them in each of his article. However, you may have already noticed that he has suddenly shifted his loyalty from the Koirala clan and has started appearing more like a neutral person. And, once the Maoists will be in power in no time he will write his articles in favor of the Maoists, and abuse the Koiralas.
