I am trying to contact Zen Travels from last week. I have to collect some refund with them but no one pick up their phone. Some one told me that they are closed.

Does any one know about this? It’s really a great help to me.

Please help me to get the Owners Mobile or home phone number.

I called them for tickets to Ktm and a voice recording says, "The number you have called is temporarily not available."

I called both their numbers. Phone: (202) 465-4266 Toll Free: (800) 643-2151

I also heard that they let go some of their employees. Can anyone in East Coast confirm as to what is going on with Zen Travels.

Zen Travels is open for business!!!

Zen moved its phone center from Washington DC to Kathmandu during the end of summer/early fall of 2007.  We experienced an unexpected outage and it took us about two weeks to resolve everything (we were quite unprepared for this kind of disaster). As a result, our phones were "temporarily down".  We did loose quite a lot of business then, but more importantly, our reputation as a trustworthy travel agency.  Since then, we have made a lot of technology improvements and have come quite a long way (and there is room for many improvements).

As a result of this outage, there were a few customers who were inconvenienced because they were unable to reach us, and in two cases, our customers had to pay extra money for services that would have cost nothing if we were able to respond to their calls. We have reimbursed both parties. Because of our business volume, at any given time, there are some people who owe us money and vice versa. To the best of our knowledge we have contacted everybody who we owed money.  In case we have missed anybody, we ask that you contact us immediately by email at [email protected] or call 202.465.4266

While the transition was painful, we are working hard to make constant improvements.  Now, we are able to receive phones calls on Sundays, evenings, mornings, and our goal is to offer our services around the clock.  We are able to reconfirm your flights in Kathmandu so you have more time to spend with your family and don't have to spend a whole day at the airline queue.  We are able to buy the tickets for your parents whose flights originate in Kathmandu, pick you up at the airport if you need a ride (even if there is a strike) and purchase a Nepal domestic flight so you can plan your trip accordingly.

We hope you will contact us again during for your travels.

At least Zen Travels were honest (to whatever degree) about their situation, and are actually reviewing customer complaints and responding in public forums, which says a lot about them. What actions they take on individual cases is a different matter, but them appearing on Sajha shows signs of their attempt at reasonably good customer service. What do large companies do? Nothing. I would be willing to buy from Zen Travels when I need to get out of Amrika.
