autism, there is no cure but therapies that help impreove the functioning of kids

When I worked with the Handicapped people back in Nepal 9 years ago, they used to call them "mentally retarded." The term eventually didn't sound appropriate to call these particular group of people who are also a part of the human society. Then we started to look for the better and respectable term. Which was "Mentally disabled people" and/or "people with learning disability." To my knowledge, I think it is more suitable "intellectually incompetent." It is just my opinion. As long as medical treatment, it all depends the history and case of a patient. We have to go case by case. Some may be treated and cured (perhaps in their early age) with a lengthy process of therapy, some may not be cured. Hit me back with your feedback.   thanks Last edited: 10-Nov-09 09:36 AM

Well it depends on where you live but  I think the legally correct term would be "mentally challenged". When I worked at New Hampshire, people told me that you can say "retarded". As long as you say it in a respectful way, you can use any term. I hope this helps.

I hasitate to call it  "an Autism." Because children/people with  Autism they sometime have an extraordinary talent in doing things. They just don't function the way a normal person supposed to on a daily basis. Autism is just a form of mental impairment. You could probably call it mentally challenged people or developmentally disabled people as some folks already mentioned over here. Sparrow

१४-१४ बर्ष पुरानो थ्रेड माथि ल्याएर.... मान्छेहरु पनि के भन्ने? तपाईंहरुको यो झगडा कहिले सकिने होला? साझामा केही नयाँ पढ्न, लेख्न पनि गाहरो पो भो। जे लेखे नि, जे पढे नि, फेरी तेही "सुस्ते", "फुसी" मात्र भनेर थ्रेडहरुको हाइ-ज्याक भएको देख्छु, के गर्ने होला? यो त अली "फोर्स्ड" भएन र भन्या?
